In concurrent with the annual conference for the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA), Westminster Ceramics is hosting a juried small works exhibition titled “Macro to Micro: A Changing Utah.” Ceramic artists over 18 with ties to Utah, residing in the US, are invited to apply! We are seeking small works which examine the vast impact of the climate crisis as it relates to Utah’s physical and cultural landscape. Eligible ceramic work must speak to these changes through an elemental lens, fire, water, earth, and air.

Ceramic Artists use local materials in a variety of methods and through a variety of materials. Whether to supplement manufactured materials or as base material within an artwork, how each artist defines local materials is just as personal and individual as the artwork. This exhibition seeks to highlight artists using local materials as more than inspiration but as an integration of their materials and processes. Salt Lake City and the 2025 NCECA conference serves as a relevant site for this exhibition with its vast landscapes and diverse resources. Looking at the changing landscape throughout Utah, the West, and regions beyond, we can reflect on the beauty in humanity’s love of material, place, and landscape.

Associated with Workshop SLC
Collaborative Concepts is an exhibition promoting the idea of artistic learning and the collaborative process between instructors and students in creating art. This exhibition showcases visiting and local artists who share their art and skill through their personal work as well as through teaching. Collaborative Concepts hopes to invoke the idea that through art teaching, artists can build community. Workshop SLC, the studio hosting this exhibition, encourages students to express themselves through art, and nurture individuals artistic talents. Collaborative Concepts celebrates these same principles through displaying the work created when in such an environment. -
